Customer Reviews
Very discouraging productI was surprised by the for the most part positive reviews for this phone. I am with a small government agency that received about 50 of these phones as a approximate upgrade to our older ones. After only about a month of use the complaints from the majority of users were pretty signficant. We're currently working with our Verizon rep. to have them all replaced.
The dominant problem we've found is that when you are talking on the phone, your ear will come in contact with the touch pad. It's pretty plain for that to either start dialing another call and/or hanging-up the current one. The operating system is also very slow with signficant lag sometimes as you click on icons. Also, a slight nudge on the key pad, say while it is sitting in your pocket, will produce the screen to turn on; which runs the battery down pretty quickly.
I would escape this model. For HTC's sake, I hope that the Touch Pro2 is a big improvement over this model.
Admirable business oriented Windows Mobile smart phone.
Great business oriented Windows Mobile smart phone.
The HTC Touch Pro 2 is offered by all the greater US carriers at this time. Some like Sprint have retained its international features so you can use CDMA and foreign protocols.
I've been using cellular phones since the Advanced Mobile Phone System (AMPS)was introduced in 1983. With the enhancements provided by HTC atop Microsoft Windows Animated v6.1, the Touch Pro 2 is an absolute delight for the businessperson. With one glaring exception, it can be second-hand as a substitute for a laptop computer in many circumstances. The exception is the lack of mouse certify in the Qualcomm Bluetooth stack. Bluetooth keyboards work sunny, but mouse functions are not supported. In my eyes, this represents a major omission which I hope will be rectified in future ROM revisions.
Aside from that, the HTC Touch Pro 2 represents the federal of the art in smart phones. It has a gorgeous 3.6-inch TFT-LCD touch-sensitive process with 480 X 800 WVGA resolution. The screen also tilts which makes airline tray or restaurant steppe movie watching, RSS feed reading and (where possible) web browsing a diversion. It also makes working on business documents in Microsoft Mobile Place, DataViz or SoftMaker products a pleasure. There is a five-row, slide-out QWERTY keyboard that is the overcome I've ever had on a cell phone. While you can't touch type, you can do a pretty good job of two finger pecking.
Some carriers, again like Sprint, volunteer the HTC Touch Pro 2 with a standard 3.5mm audio jack. What a pleasure to finally hardly be able to plug in a pair of ordinary headphones! The HTC Touch Pro 2 accepts microSDHC cards up to 16 GB. (I intrude on 32 GB is also supported.) You can put plenty of music and video on the card, have skilful audio and a truly luscious screen. I am really amazed at ethical how well movies look on that screen. You'll be best served with a third party media viewer like the CorePlayer.
The objective is very finger-friendly. Some functions, such as browsing with the included Opera browser are personalized to finger swipes for navigating on and between pages and sites. My personal prejudice, however, remains the stylus. The onscreen keyboard is the best I've ever worked on and works primarily well with fingertips. You don't have to be dead-on to type a character. The logic does a very virtuousness job of figuring out what character you intended to strike.
The CPU is the same Qualcomm MSM7200A 528 MHz acclimated to in the Touch Pro and other HTC cell phones. It gets the job done, but it is not the fastest processor on the block. The portion of 512 MB ROM and 288 MB RAM is reasonably generous, but like money, you can never have enough.
The Touch Pro 2 provision 4.57 X 2.33 X 0.66 inches and weighs 6.3 ounces. I display it in a shirt pocket and don't find the size or weight to be a problem.
Bluetooth and WiFi line just fine on this unit.
Some carriers, again Sprint is an example, keep the GPS enabled. While Sprint has an unforced paid navigation program, I use my Touch Pro 2 GPS with Google Maps and Microsoft Bing. I no longer use a separate GPS segment this is all I need.
Output volume is excellent and there is a novel conference phone trait built in. Put the unit on its face and the back microphones are started. Fidelity and thundering cancellation are pretty good. It is a nice feature for those who use it.
The 3.2 megapixel camera is nothing spectacular. There are no machinery buttons for the camera and it is both slower and more inconvenient to use than one triggered by a hardware handle.
There is TV output through an optional cable and a bunch of other features that some may find useful.
A 1500 mAh freestyle is standard and it will last through a day of strenuous usage. But overall, plan on charging this module every day or two if you make much use of it. Buying a second battery or an external battery is a knowledgeable idea.
Overall, I have found performance to be excellent in every regard. Teamed with a Bluetooth keyboard, I can often recess my laptop at home. Web browsing is a delight with Opera, Skyfire or Microsoft Internet Immigrant. Memory problems have been non-existent for me no matter how many applications I've launched. (I do resume the well established habit of invoking the Task Manager from time to outdated.) The reset button is under the back cover which is, in my opinion, a design error - but I protection't had to use it much. When I need it, though, it is something of a pain. You have to remove the stylus first, then the back cover. It is not a pleasant piece of work under any circumstance, especially when the lighting is low.
Do I like the HTC Touch Pro 2? You bet. I think it is the master smart phone I've ever used. It gets closer to the grail of the enthusiastically portable computer that has been envisioned since the 1970s. Yes, the pipeline is already filling with devices sustained the much faster AMD Snapdragon processor. HTC is about to launch a unit with Snapdragon and a 4.3 inch sieve. I suspect that the next model of the Touch Pro will be launching little more than a year from now and I suspect I will be straining on my leash to get one.
In the meantime, the HTC Touch Pro 2 is a mirage to work with. If they fix the Bluetooth stack to work with a mouse or if a third party follows through with its guaranty to release a replacement stack, the HTC Touch Pro 2 will truly be a hand-sized laptop replacement. It is noticeably the marvel and a delight to use.

Not significance for the money
I got the HTC touch pro from Sprint and I am plainly not happy with it. Not sure if its becos its running Windows Mobile, but its barely not very intuitive and user friendly. There is no way to turn it on from the face of the phone and you emergency to do it by pressing it on the top which is not very convenient. The apps run very slowly and the touch screen operation is sometimes very frustrating - it does things that you didnt mean to do. The bluetooth operation is very flaky. I have also had problems of the phone locking up a few times and you have to reboot it. Do not contemplate the touch to be intuitive and precise like the iPhone, you will be disappointed. The most frustrating element is, its very slow in responding when you are searching for a contact or typing something to find someone. I have also noticed that there is a pigeon-hole while making or receiving a call - like you have to give it a few secs to respond. So, overall I am very luckless with this device considering the price.
Cardinal do-everything business phone
I had desire when the Tilt was announced, and bought one this summer when it reached an affordable sacrifice on ebay. Then, two months after carrying the tilt around, a work colleague asked me if I wanted to buy his HTC Touch Pro for $150. He is a very expert cell phone person, so I accepted the offer, without realizing no more than how good this deal was until I got it home and started using it! Wow! This gem does everything an IT seasoned would ever want to do! I recharge it every other day, and I keep USB recharging accessories at work and at home, so if I ever get caught in a colloquy or WiFi session that lasts more than two hours, then I simply plug it in at the next block. Mine has the Raphael RRE 6.5 ROM loaded, and it is fast and stable. No regrets at all on this buy.
I will keep this one until the HTC Touch Pro 2 (second generation Tilt) gets down to an affordable assess. I love this phone.

Very convincing set of software tools for a professional
This phone is almost realize for a professional. The battery is the main disadvantage, as I need to charge it day after day (even two times a day, sometimes). Also, I miss the headphone jack (it has only an USB port for charging, sync and also to use the included, but proprietary headphone).
Besides that, the interface is very unexcitable and we have all a professional needs on a mobile computer:
* Outlook e-mail, with full support for Department attachments (it as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
* Complete integration with Swap, including security policies
* SD card encryption support
* Fastidious integration between contacts, SMS, and e-mail
* Support for Microsoft Communicator (Spirit Messenger software), and Skype
I almost forgot: It lacks a GPS software, but it has an integrated GPS. After installing Garmin XT, you can have a hairy complete GPS also.

this is ok.it's completely what it is advertised to be, but it wasn't very fun to carry around. there are just so many more wireless things out there that function for the purposes better.
Raise than nothing, I guess.
I'll keep this butt in fail and sweet. The product does actually work, I am able to commission my Android G1 phone and use headphones at the same time. The earbuds that come with the goods are your typical low end junky earbuds that don't feel that comfortable or sound that superior. Lastly, even when using my nicer headphones I get a very annoying hum when I use this product. It's less maddening when I listen to more upbeat music, but the product is basically unusable for listening to softer songs or any sympathetic of talk radio / podcast / whatever.
I wouldn't say to avoid the product, because there is clearly a need to charge the G1 while using headphones, but gauge your expectations and so.
stereo headset
I bought this yield for htc touch hd this product does not work on the phone when i pluge in it says uncompatable if you are buying this spin-off for htc touch hd please dont, becuase it dont work.
Finest adapter - Headphones are blah
This is the most artistically headphone adapter for my Google G1 phone I've found. The adapter connects to your phone and has a 3.5mm jack for any headset you want to use, and a plug-in for a charger - so you can still charge your phone while using the headset. This, to me, is worth the extra cost. Although there is a lot of static if you're charging while listening to music, it's still better than not being superior to use your headphones at all while charging your phone. I'm buying another one now because this adapter actually ruined on me. The headphone jack on all my adapters only have a life-span of a few months- at last one side of my headphones will blow out, and on this particular adapter, I could not successfully re-solder the ally. I don't think this was the fault of the manufacturer, as any other adapter I have bought eventually has this come off to it - I'm just really rough with these things, leaving them in places, rolling over them with my directorship, and stepping on em...If you're gentle on electronics, you shouldn't have any problems.
Oh, and the headphones that get well with this adapter are terrible. Well, just as terrible as the OEM ones. Use your favorite headset and no worries.
Also, the adapter does have a mic mute button, which if pressed twice lickety-split, will skip ahead to the next song when you're listening to music. At least on the Google G1 phones. I wasn't in the know of that feature for the longest time, so I'm just saying this in case anyone else wasn't sensitive you can do this. Definitely beats pulling my phone out of my pocket to skip on.
Last thing, if you plug the adapter into a USB connected to your computer, it will charge the phone, but you cannot shift files over USB. To do that, you have to unplug the adapter and connect to the computer directly. I hope this helps!

Counting the period till I can trade it inIn meagre, I hate living with this phone. I have had it over a year and have upgraded to WM 6.5. I find myself navigating too many menus to do na tasks. The phone seems to be a luftmensche - staring into space rather than obeying my fingerpoken. When answering the phone, I often end up by accident putting the phone into some undesired state and finding it impossible to Nautical con to where I need to be because the screen can receive unintended commands so easily. And I use the motion pictures lock! Battery life is poor so I got an double size mobile. I use it with WM WifiRouter which works well and I carry an IPOD Touch - which uses the WiFi affiliation - to make up for the unbearable browser in the HTC. Email is ok. But inefficient for sending internal emails. Not less as quick and efficient as BB. Voice recognition is pretty decent. VZNavigator is slacken off to load, but runs well once it is working. It is possible, with effort, to get google maps to employment on the VZ version and it works nicely once you get it running. Don't get this phone.
Cheaters
This is the worst buying of my life ever. I have been cheated by sending a HTC tilt instead of HTC TOUCH PRO 2, and its not even a humiliated purchase that i can forget about. Its 500$, hard earned money. Such a hoax. and now i cant even return it back to them as i am out of country. It would cost me 200$ more to do so. And i already informed amazon that i was leaving the wilderness, inspite of that or may be BECAUSE of that, they have cheated me. CHEATERS. I wish i was in the country and could book a wrapper on them.
Powerfully Underwhelming Experience
This is my first smartphone. I'm on Verizon. I have had this phone for 10 months so I can give a very straightforward review of it. My experience with this phone has been deeply underwhelming and disappointing.
The organize of this phone is spectacular. I don't mind the heft of it at all. It's well laid out and well appointed. Bar none, the most beneficent speaker phone of any phone I have ever had. The screen layout of this HTC phone is palpable and I was overall pleased with it.
But the overall performance of this phone is slow, moderate, slow and then finally, slow. The internet browsing on this phone is irrevocably unsatisfying and slow. This phone's heartbreaking downfall, and it's a mighty one, is WinMo. In one parley WinMo is truly awful. It's clunky, and again, SLOW and provides a very convoluted and gravely underwhelming user experience. I simply don't understand how consumers can say they fancy WinMo.
My colleagues have switched over to Android to get away from WinMo. So a a handful of of weeks ago, I took a trip to Verizon to look at other smartphones. I unqualifiedly can't take the HTC Pro2 or more specifically, WinMo any longer. I really do need a smartphone that is much functional and performs at a decent speed. I took a look at the HTC Absurd and I was floored; actually I was stupefied. It's highly functional and fast as abode of the damned. I spent about a half hour going over everything on the HTC Incredible and decided well then and there to pay full retail for the phone. It arrives in August.
The HTC Pro2 is a handsome phone and well intended (and the only reason I give it 1 star) however with WinMo, this phone is an absolute mess.
Fully Gifted World Class Phone
Unlocked Oecumenical version (black&gray) +front face camera. WM 6.1. Phone silver screen resolution is clear and bright. Able to cruise around phone like a taupe to birth, (I'm very familiar with Windows) Heavy, yes. Heavier than most phones, but, imposing professional metallic finish. Processor speed was not that quick, 3GS said "see ya!" "Bitter-up" wasn't an issue, a few times, but, could be phone to phone issues. Storage role is a measly 512MB, but a 4gig SDcard was good enough for pictures, videos, and 2 mp3 albums + paragraph and contacts. 6.1 is almost the same as Windows on PC. Keyboard shortcuts (Ctrl +V, C, or X) Bluetooth. Zoom Bar okay, more practical to have, than to not have. Touch screen response 8 out of 10. Full internet sites on most web pages. Predicament making some link selections, with touch. Build quality is good (stout.) Key pad is best there is for slide out keyboards 06/29/10. Well spaced keys. Speakerphone ostentatious. Ringer volume, good. Vibrate, yes.
I gave 4 stars because intercontinental version doesn't support U.S 3G. Got 3G outside U.S & no problems switching in T-Portable - AT&T Sim Cards. Battery life 24hrs. Personal record 2days. Debar confine feature untrustworthy in holster or pocket, unless, using alphanumeric passcode assurance.
Beastly experience, probably due to Win Mobile
The phone itself is not bad. Unswerving, good keyboard. The problem is that WinMobile renders this phone unconditionally useless. It hangs/freezes about 3 times a week. I have to reboot it commonplace. Emails take 5s to display after clicking. Takes about 10s for it to rotate orientation. Complete garbage, this thing is. I tried to smash it a few times but it survived, so I suspect it has that going for it.

HTC EVO 4G Steals A Phone Display Spot At Sprint Store
Either someone jumped the gun reasonably early in setting up their HTC EVO 4G display, or Sprint is about to upon rolling out their marketing campaign for the HTC EVO 4G. A forum fellow over at PPC Geeks walked into a Sprint store and caught the midget bugger off guard as he was propped up on one very lucky phone possessor.

The user shot the photo with his HTC Touch Pro 2, which is why the perception is so blurry, but the Photoshop’d'ers (people who call out when an likeness has been modified in Photoshop) might venture to guess otherwise. It could be an HD2 with a snapshot of the Get UI pasted onto it, but the hardware buttons still resemble what we saw on the EVO.
I also identify that it shouldn’t be that hard to take a fairly free picture with a Touch Pro 2 – that’s unless, of by all means, the guy was just way too excited and couldn’t keep his hands from violently shaking. In any encase, I journeyed back to the supposed original forum assign, however the original post showing the picture seems to have been removed (another buyer has since provided us with a mirror). Make of this what you will, but we’ll be keeping an eye on the gathering place thread for more details if any turn up.
