Customer Reviews
Doesn't purvey expected performanceI own the first creation Ming and love it
I bought this Ming as a replacement for my first generation Ming.
It blacks out on provocation when I need to use it.
In addition, the body is not as charming as the first generation Ming. It's rather smooth and bulky.
I've also owned other smart phones like the iphone. I do not like the iphone and when I saw a critique that raved about how they thought the iphone is a joke compared to the capabilities of this Ming I was sold on the estimation of trying it out. That is because I too am not impressed with the iphone. However, I'd have to say as unimpressed as I am with my iphone, I like it more safely a improved than this Ming version.
The apps on this Ming version is not appealing, The rabble-rouser quality is poor, although it is loud.
Don't find out for yourself if this Ming works for you its a waste of 2 big ones. I would not counsel it to any of my friends or relatives.
Hope that Motorola will redesign the next generation Ming to be a ridiculously awful professional side-kick. I do like the Ming line, just not this one. Look forward to that Motorola will polish up on the performance, deliver functionality + beauty. Also, look after the Ming line to the US...make some US versions there's a market for them in the US you know.
MotoMing beats the iPhone, Blackberry, and all others -- hands down
I purchased my first Ming about 3 years ago and when I irreparable the first one, I went straight to the AT&T store and purchased an iPhone. Compared to my Ming, the iPhone was an iJoke! So I returned it, paid the $40 restocking fee, and ordered another Ming in a second. Recently, I upgraded to the Ming A1600, and I absolutely love it. For someone who uses her phone as much as I do for both commerce and personal purposes, this phone is ideal.
The only problem so far is that I have not been able to find a plot to download an English version of the GPS map system, so my GPS is in Chinese! However, because I love this phone so much, I might have to learn Chinese upstanding for the GPS system if I can't find the English map.
In sum, Motorola Ming A1600 is a FANTASTIC product with a multitude of marvellous features and applications that are suitable for both business and personal uses. I well recommended it.

The Egg and Sperm Race: The Seventeenth-Century Scientists Who Unlocked the Secrets of Sex and Growth

Customer Reviews
The tribe: the reader winsThis is a skilful book; very multifaceted. It is not just the story of three 17th century scientists disquieting to work out the secrets of reproduction (then called generation). It is also a story about the growth of science and the use of experimentation to find a conclusion. Of course by the end of the 17th century, scientists still had not figured everything out, so the post goes on to explain progress made in the field since the 1600s, including Gregor Mendel's pea experiments, the finding of DNA's double helix, the first "test-tube" baby and even Dolly, the cloned sheep. Matthew Cobb, the creator, also framed his discussion in the context of 17th century Holland, showing the implications of diplomacy, religion, and wars with England and France. Because this book looked at only one characteristic of science, it was able to give a very thorough discussion, including the intense conflict between the three scientists about whom this story concerns. The book also highlighted the importance of not only being the first to uncover something, but also being the first to publish findings. And for the first time, I also recommend that the reader follow the notes at the end of the post as these offer further insights.

Samurai William: The Adventurer Who Unlocked Japan
Customer Reviews
ExcludeThis rules was excellent. It is written in an easy to read manner so even the most amateur of historians can attend along, and covers a topic which is not widely known. Overall I have found this to be one of the best books on Japanese Representation that I have come across in a long time.
An Matchless Read!
"Samurai William" is a clever book! Giles Milton crafts a fascinating and expertly written financial statement of William Adams, his mission to establish trade with Japan, and the adventures, contradictory cultures, and mishaps along the way.
With this book, Milton reinforces his skill at composition historical works that read like a great adventure novels. Milton's knack to do so is what makes his books so readable. The descriptions were vivid and captured my mental acuity without the help of the numerous pictures (which were very nice, too!) scattered throughout the book. I also felt excitable for the people in the book, instead of trudging through dull, lifeless characterizations like in a narrative book. All the things that made his previous books "Nathaniel's Nutmeg" and "Big Principal Elizabeth" great are in in full form here.
I recommend this for anyone who enjoyed Milton's other works, or justifiable picked this up on a whim! "Samurai William" does not disappoint.
Reviews from Brizmus Blogs Books
It's a exquisite story of how trade originally developed between the west and Japan the first sometimes around, complete with fascinating details and citations from the people that were there. Milton's fast-paced exclusive brings the characters and the settings to life. Throughout the course of the book, I found myself experiencing everything from stupefy and outrage to love to devastation. At points, I even found myself siding with people that I would never habitually side with. Giles Milton took the facts and made a very readable novel out of them.
Unfortunately, I have heard that the romance he told is not exactly factual. He has many references and gives many citations, but I've appear to believe that not everything was 100% accurate.
There's also the small fact that the title was very misleading. I went into the book hoping to learn more about the subsistence of William Adams, but the book was far more about trade. Very little was actually said about the vital spark of William Adams. Upsetting.
Just one more negative thing - it also seemed very forumlated. As if he took lots of spot parts of books he'd read and put them all together, as opposed to actually just criticism the story. It kind of made me think that he'd written it as a (very long) high denomination history paper.
(N.B. this is the first review I ever wrote!)
Makes report exciting and accessible
I found this to be a superbly written lyrics, filled with fascinating details and enough excitement to fill a novel. Using quotes from concomitant sources, Milton brings history to life by focusing on the one elements rather than dry chronology. I can't wait to read the rest of Milton's books.
The Trusty Story of the English Entrepreneur.
When I was aggregation material to complete my review on Mr. James Clavell's "Shogun" I saw a recommendation to this book and can't resist the temptation to bought it and read it. After finishing reading it I was astonished by how deeply Mr. Clavell has grasped this exotic environment in his novel.
Mr. Milton has carefully researched the contemporary European sources to build this book. He took into plan the diary & letters from William Adams (the historical character on which Clavell's laws was based), Richard Cock, the chief English Factor at Hirado (Japan), Captain John Saris and other Dutch, Spanish and Portuguese sources. Japanese sources are omitted. This in my id, is not a great setback, because the author is telling the story of the hundred year relationship between Europeans and Japanese from the Europeans wagon point of view, and he doesn't claim otherwise.
The amazement and shock, that such a rare culture generated on these seamen and merchants is shown in their own words. In one give the higher cultural level, reflected in the cleanness, sophistication and demeanor of the Japanese, trap them. In the other hand the harsh justices applied: deaths for minor and big faults, without appellation or mercy, appall them.
The spicy language acclimatized by William Adams and his fellow merchants is shown, with minor standardization in lawfulness to render it intelligibly for modern readers, recreating their environment and mindset. The regulations is very entreatingly and provides a colorful sight of that historical period and place.
Benefit this reading!
