Prodigious phone!
If you don't hunger for to re-up your contract or if you are just looking to replace your current phone, this phone is wonderful for messaging, gets great reception and has lots of fun features to sport around with. I use this phone mainly for messaging and email and find that the keyboard is very easy to use and the screen is a worth size for reading messages you receive. The only complaint that I have is that there isn't a way to adjust the sum total easily while you are talking on the phone because they removed the side volume bar. Other than that, this phone is wonderful!!

distinction phone for the price - this IS an international (not US) phoneI am sufficiently technically oriented -- so tried taking this directly out of the box to use it. I chose the red phone and the fa cover feels velvety to me. It doesn't slide around when you set it on a hard exterior in the car....which is good.
My main complaint is that the written instructions are certainly useless. After taking the back off - the cover has a toggle that unlatches in the back and it pivots on a clip at the top of the phone. Take out the battery and to get your sim card in the phone, slide it VERTICALLY into the small area that looks like you should insert a memory card horizontally. The guy at the ATT set aside had to show me how to do this. Even my 13 year old could not figure it out -- which is generally not a good consequential.
I agree with other reviewers that the keyboard layout is awesome. It makes the phone narrower than a BB and is moderate to use. The other trick I had to learn the hard way - is how to unlock the sucker after setting it up with no open sesame. you have to quickly press in sequence the bar above the green call button and then the function handle near the lower left corner of the keyboard. You can't hold one of the buttons down too sustained or it ignores you. When the screen dims, I have a really hard time reading howler messages and instructions on the screen.... hmmm. again, a pain.
However, the phone will let you set typeset size, background color and there is a plethera of pleasing ringtones. If only the applications were as replete.
I chose this phone because of the wi-fi capabilities. I do not have a data plan, don't want a figures plan, but do need the calendar and email functions. I can sync and know email at any starbucks and still avoid the overpriced ATT data service.
If you still over recall this is a US phone, read the manual and screen where it instructs you to hold the stretch bar down for 2-3 seconds to use the phone as a torch (flashlight). I have in reality found this functionality to be VERY useful and even when you don't charge your phone for 3 - 4 days, it will still beacon up like a beacon in the dark. Try going 24 hours without charging your BB undaunted!
bottom line, I would buy it again for the wi-fi and great sound transmission (both out and in). I love the hugeness, but wish it came with useful user docs.
I am returning this phone
I bought this phone on Amazon for $140 and after using it for 2 era I am disappointed. No matter how low its price is, I just don't think it is a good smartphone.
Gracious stuff:
1. Price
2. Has 3G modem (that's what I bought it for)
3. It does not drop calls, no occasion how I hold it.
4. Keyboard is OK.
Bad stuff:
1. Camera does not have autofocus. All photos are a bit hazy.
2. Symbian UX is not very intuitive, navigation is hard. I could not find maps application, girlfriend somehow found it in "Tools".
3. Heard about free Nokia vector maps that do not coerce constant Internet connection? For the life of me I could not figure out how to make preinstalled Maps 2.0 to do it, and Maps 3.0 (Ovi Maps) is not supported on this phone. Scarcely the fact that I had to figure it all out drives me nuts.
4. It is Symbian and the number of applications is to the nth degree limited (for example, there is no Kindle app for it).
Haven't had a chance to test 3G modem yet.

Received in benign condition and in the specified date. Brought it from Tech Dealers on Amazon. I am very please with my acquiring. I have seen complaints of not seeing the person who call but I didn't have a problem with that on the phone. I have had my phone now from since the 28th June.

Glaring DeviceThe complete phone is great, everything is proportionate and sort of just works well together, did I impart this thing is thin? The E71 and it looks very sharp and easy on the eyes. Screen material estate isn't a problem at all, there's a decent amount of contrast when looking at media, and you'll extraordinarily appreciate the screen during some heavy web browsing. It seems louder than the E61 and it's pretty acute for ringtones and alert sounds. Music sounds fine on it, but it's not skilful. Bass is seriously lacking and you do get a "tinny" sort of sound. It is very, very garish, though, so you can be sure that alarm is going to get you out of bed in the morning. The messaging application had a small bit of a visual makeover, and it's for the better. Text is extremely readable and emails look kind. If there is one negative to the E71 it's the keyboard, just a lot smaller. They're also not as squishy which is nice, and they're graceful easy to press once you get it down. Nokia and call quality go together like ham and burger. Kool-Aid and sugar, the E71 doesn't deceive.
Weakness this phone
I dont do to many reviews but i partiality this phone so i figured i would. For me this phone does everything i need. Fast downloads on either 3g or irascible network. Range with the wifi is unreal. This thing picks up wifi ALOT farther than my laptop or my ipod start. It really surprised me. Its nice to because you can choose if you want to use at&t or wifi joining before you access the web. Build quality is very good. Its got some weight to it, not to much but enough that it feels very well built. I've had this phone about a month now and i have not one squawk. I always liked Nokia phones, they get great reception and are built well and this phone is no quibble. In a world of crap phones from LG, Samsung and Motorola, i'm really ready I got the Nokia.

The three star rating is because the main reason for buying this set was for the telegraph and it is not fully functional. The cd enclosed only supports up to windows XP so that's another minor set back.
