nokia n85I loved this phone. Music athlete, while not perfect, was one of the better ones I have used. The internet browser worked, although required some plane scrolling. Screen was great (OLED) although sometimes difficult to see in the daylight. I only on occasion missed the touchscreen, but most of the time I prefer the d-pad.
My complaint with this phone is that it only lasted 9 months. I grant I am hard on phones, so this does not really surprise me- In the past few years I have gone thru at least one phone per yer, so the n85 I would scold average in durability. I enjoyed having it, but the local repair seek could not fix it. It is not a common phone, but that was part of its appeal to me.
Absurd phone
I tenderness it. The screen is great (OLED beats LCD hands down), the CPU is actually lickety-split enough for S60 to feel snappy, and the camera is fantastic. The only reason I'm not giving it 5 stars is that it's missing a few unsubtle improvements: image stabilization, a better browser, and a better email patient.
The Nokia browser is pretty good, but it doesn't have the sensible reflow abilities of Opera Movable (which resize the main column of an article to fit my screen, so I don't have to scroll horizontally). On the other influence, Opera Mobile's form input can't use predictive text unless you rat it to pop up a separate dialog, which gets kind of tiresome when I want to personification in comments. It also doesn't have the ability to send pages by email or MMS.
The email patron is the worst part: it doesn't work for me at all. It can't log in to either of my IMAP-over-SSL accounts--worse, it doesn't confirm me why not; it just tells me, "Unable to log in. Try again.". Since the client on my N75 could handle both these accounts, this is plainly a downgrade.
One concrete problem: the N-Gage system comes with an activation lex non scripta 'common law for one free game, but entering the code as written keeps giving an "Invalid encrypt" error. Googling found the answer: the first character of the code is a zero, not the communication O. (This is particularly exasperating because *all* the other characters are letters.) Also, you might have to omit the spaces--either that, or I had a typo the first epoch I tried.
Mostly, though, I'm extremely satisfied. The Ovi Store is a huge improvement over Googling for Symbian apps; being skilful to write apps for my phone in HTML+JavaScript is really dangerous; and HSPA is an order of magnitude faster than UMTS.
Staggering quality and great features
Ive owned the Nokia n95 and n97, but this phone is patently my favorite out of the three. The camera takes amazing pictures while the overall crave of the phone screams quality. The phone is extremely responsive even with several applications uncluttered. The features are very plentiful and even though this phone is not a touch screen I would pick it hands down over the n97.

Reviewing of the Nokia N86
The Nokia N86 Phone is a godlike phone in general and I must say it stands out against some of the others. The best way to describe what I think of the phone is to laundry list its pros and cons.
Pros:
- Good quality build and speculator made than the other phones I have seen or owned. The phone is not flimsy and doesn't seem to be made of for twopence plastic.
- Buttons are also firm and reflect a good quality map.
- Plenty of tools and apps to keep you busy. I think the applications are in tack of what you expect of an advanced phone like this. All the regular software (email, appointment book, Media player, etc.)
- Very nice display and crisp. The images you take with the camera have an wonderful clarity when you view them in the display.
- I like the fact that phone has two cameras. One for bewitching pictures (on the back of the phone), and the other is active when you take a picture of yourself (like when you are chatting).
- The menu is a certain extent intuitive to use and you could get around without a manual.
- The sound quality (from the headset) when playing music is solid and it is close to what you get from an iPod (and better than my blackberry).
- WLAN works very well and doesn't have problems picking up nearby WAP nodes.
- I am impressed with all the hidden sensors the phone has that turn unnamed functions in the phone automatically. For instance, when you flip open the brook on the back of the phone, it automatically switches to picture viewing mode. I have always wanted a withdraw a symbolize like that for my iTouch iPod when I am on the plane and trying to view a silver screen.
- I like the fact that it has a built-in dictionary and you don't have to be online to use it.
Cons:
- Rather heavy but it also reflects on the quality of the shell.
- Too many menu clicks to do some of the many and simple tasks. The menu is rich but might take several levels to do something basic.
- Token useful games out of the box - odd for a phone with this price.
- I don't like the fact that you can't check the different sound settings for the various functions of the phone. For happened, I still can't find a way to control the volume for the notification of incoming SMS messages. It's somewhat infuriating in meetings when you think set the volume of the ring to a vibrate and then a very loud notification comes on when you have a bulletin. It forces you to switch to meeting mode all the time if you don't want to perceive that. My previous Sony Ericsson allowed me to control a lot more and to configure what I deficiency to hear for several functions.
- The GPS is very moody. I wouldn't rely on it and I wouldn't buy this phone if the GPS is a MUST have earmark.
- For some reason, the phone doesn't always charge when you plug it to a USB connection. It works about 50% of the times. I noticed that if you shut up it off completely while plugged, it will charge.
- Battery life is not great, but I fancy you would expect from a phone with all the bells and whistles.
Famed Phone
This is a enormous Nokia phone. In the past I've had 1112, 5310, N79 and this N86. The pic quality is unprejudiced amazing. The screen is great. Many features. Recommended.

With all the reviews on Amazon I have evident not to reiterate all the features the phone has because it has all been said already. What I will do is mention all the features I have occupied on the N86 8MP and the ones I have added. My husband has the N95 8GB and I thought it was a Illustrious phone until I got the N86 8MP. I got the phone as a Christmas gift from my hubby and in two shakes of a lamb's tail added Melon Mobile's Advance Call manager application to my phone. My solitary purpose for this symbian phone was to have the ability to CHOOSE who can call me and that is how that software came into toy with. For those who are looking to have a way that your phone will ring ONLY for those you allow to call you (from your contact list) the Deposit Call manager application has resolved that issue for me. Also as with some cell phones you can also go bottoms up a surface on the fix dialing feature, so if you leave your phone accidently somewhere no one can make calls on your phone. When the arranged dialing is activated on the phone, only the phone numbers on your contact muster can be dialed out (including the 911 emergency numbers). Adding and removing applications from the N86 8MP is a puff also especially if you like Themes on your phone.
The camera does a fanciful job in taking pictures as well as videos. I have no complaints about that feature. When photos are infatuated they are saved in the GALLEY application on the phone so it is so easy to find all the photos, video clips, songs, and undisturbed clips there.
The FM radio on the phone is great to have...just plug in the ear buds and search for your provincial stations with out an extra charge from your service provider.
I can't say anything about the texting or internet scrap of the phone because they are not features I use but I have noticed a Facebook application on the phone for those who do surf the web.
The audio on the phone is ameliorate than my late Samsung A777. When I receive calls I can hear the individual on my N86 8MP loud and clear. The speaker phone is just as full also. I only wish they had added four speakers on the N86 8MP instead of just the two.
The N868MP is a smooth phone and not light weight...which is ok for me.
If you are looking for a Symbian phone with a Talented camera....the N86 8MP is the phone.
